China
Luxury hotels, insider access, and bespoke itineraries
The Destination
China's luxury hospitality spans imperial-palace hotels in Beijing, sleek towers in Shanghai, and cultural retreats in the mountains of Yunnan and Sichuan. Few countries offer such a leap between the ancient and the hyper-modern within a single itinerary.
Aman's Chinese properties are among the brand's most significant — Aman at Summer Palace sits within the old imperial park walls in Beijing, Amanfayun occupies a village of Qing-dynasty dwellings beside Hangzhou's West Lake, and Amandayan overlooks the old town of Lijiang. Alongside them, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton command the great cities, the Peninsula and Waldorf Astoria define heritage Beijing and Shanghai, and Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain brings wellness to a sacred Taoist landscape near Chengdu.
China rewards structure. We handle the visa guidance, the internal flights and high-speed rail, private English-speaking guides, and access that is hard to arrange independently — a Forbidden City wing before opening, a tea ceremony with a master, a panda-conservation morning near Chengdu — while layering preferred-partner benefits onto each stay.

Best Time to Visit
Autumn (September to November) is the finest window nationwide — clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and glorious light on Beijing's monuments. Spring (April to May) is the strong second choice. Summers are hot and humid, particularly in the Yangtze cities, and northern winters are cold, though they bring thin crowds to the Great Wall and the palaces. The Golden Week holiday in early October is best avoided for domestic travel.
Insider Tips
Our signature contrast pairs imperial Beijing — Aman at Summer Palace, with private access to the adjoining park — with a complete change of pace in the south or west: West Lake serenity at Amanfayun, or the misty Taoist mountains and wellness of Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain near Chengdu, connected by a short domestic flight we arrange. We plan the guiding and the logistics end to end so the sheer scale of the country never feels daunting.
