The Peninsula Beijing

An iconic landmark of timeless elegance in the heart of China's capital, where legendary Peninsula service meets imperial grandeur and contemporary luxury.

Arrival & Airport Transfer

From the moment you land in Beijing, The Peninsula begins its service. If you choose airport pickup through The Peninsula, everything is orchestrated seamlessly: As soon as you disembark the plane, a Peninsula representative meets you and escorts you through immigration and baggage claim — eliminating the usual stress of arrival. This includes support at passport control, luggage collection, and finally guiding you to one of The Peninsula's iconic green Rolls-Royce cars waiting curbside. The ride from Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) to The Peninsula in the city center takes approximately 40–50 minutes depending on traffic. During this time, you can relax, refresh, and start soaking in the city's energy, all while being driven in classic Peninsula style. This arrival experience is not just transportation — it's a continuation of the luxury narrative the brand is known for, setting the tone for your entire stay.

Check-In

Upon arrival at The Peninsula Beijing, the attentive service continues. Instead of standing at a front desk or queueing behind other guests, the team promptly escorts you directly to your room. Here, your check-in process is conducted privately and personally, right in the comfort of your suite: The team introduces you to your room features, including the tech, amenities, and bespoke touches. A curated selection of welcome amenities is presented — champagne, flowers and salty snacks as requested. This elevated process feels personal, refined, and unconstrained — a significant upgrade compared to standard hotel check-ins, especially in a city as dynamic and fast-paced as Beijing.

The Room

The room has a beautiful sense of proportion — everything feels spacious, balanced, and very thoughtfully designed. You have a proper walk-in closet with a dedicated makeup station, a comfortable living room area, and once you close the doors, you step into the main bedroom, which instantly feels more private and quiet. The bathroom is equally impressive, with a double vanity and a full bathtub, and the overall finish is exactly what you expect from The Peninsula: high-quality materials, great detailing, and a very refined feel throughout. Sound insulation is excellent, and the suite has clearly been updated with modern technology — easy climate control, intuitive lighting, and automatic curtains that make the whole experience feel effortless.

The Spa

The Peninsula Spa & Wellness was genuinely one of the best spa treatments I've had in Asia. The facilities are not massive, but they are beautifully curated—quiet, welcoming, and designed in a way that feels intimate and exclusive rather than busy or commercial. The spa's approach blends modern wellness with traditional influences, drawing from Ayurvedic, European, and Asian healing philosophies, and the overall standard of execution feels extremely high. The spa also uses premium product lines such as ESPA and Biologique Recherche. If you're staying at The Peninsula Beijing, I highly recommend booking at least one treatment—it's the perfect way to reset after travel and set the tone for your time in Beijing.

Dining

Dining at The Peninsula Beijing is refreshingly focused and well executed, with two main restaurants that cover very different moods. Jing is the hotel's Michelin-starred French restaurant. We didn't try it during this visit simply because we had already booked another French dining experience in Beijing, but Jing is clearly one of the hotel's highlights. It holds a Michelin star and, from what we saw, the setting and presentation look phenomenal — it's absolutely on our list for next time. The second venue is Huang Ting, offering an authentic Cantonese fine dining experience. We ended up dining here twice — once for lunch and once for dinner — and it quickly became one of our favorite parts of the stay. The restaurant feels intimate and beautifully designed, almost like stepping into an elegant, old-world Chinese tavern, with warm lighting and a very refined atmosphere. Food quality was excellent, but what truly elevated the experience was the service. As expected at The Peninsula, it was spectacular — attentive, polished, and genuinely personal without ever feeling intrusive.

Breakfast

Breakfast at The Peninsula Beijing takes place just behind the stairs in the main lobby area, where a very ample buffet spreads across a mix of Western, Asian, and Chinese options, catering to a wide range of tastes. The buffet is complemented by live-cooking stations where chefs prepare noodles, soups and fresh pancakes on demand, which adds a warm, interactive touch to the morning ritual. Guests can also order from a full à la carte breakfast menu, and each dish we tried was perfectly executed and beautifully presented. Coffee at breakfast is notable as well; the hotel uses Julius Meinl's premium blends. Overall, the breakfast at The Peninsula feels generous and thoughtful — the variety of options and quality of execution make it one of the highlights of the stay and a perfect way to prepare for a day exploring Beijing.

Conclusion

While some Peninsula properties around the world don't always deliver the same standard as the brand's most iconic flagships, The Peninsula Beijing truly exceeded my expectations. For its price point, it feels like an unbeatable choice — especially considering the level of service, the comfort of the rooms, and the overall experience. The location is another major advantage. The hotel sits in the heart of Wangfujing, one of Beijing's most central and prestigious areas, with luxury shopping and some of the city's best retail streets just a short walk away. Overall, we genuinely loved our stay here, and it's a hotel I would confidently return to — and recommend to anyone looking for a refined, effortless luxury base in Beijing.
