Les Bateaux Belmond
Seven small boats working the canals and rivers of Burgundy, Champagne, Provence and the Bordeaux vineyards at walking pace.
Four to twelve guests, a chef aboard, and — on six of the seven — the whole boat and its crew to yourselves. You cover perhaps twenty miles in a week, which is rather the point.
The densest concentration of the fleet, and the classic introduction — the Saône and the Burgundy canals, with the Côte d'Or wine villages an afternoon's drive from wherever the boat has tied up.
One boat, the Marne, and the cellars of the great houses within reach of the towpath.
Two boats on the Rhône through Provence and the edge of the Camargue — the widest water in the fleet, and the only region where a cabin can be booked without taking the whole boat.
The smallest boat in the fleet on the Canal latéral à la Garonne, within reach of Saint-Émilion and the Bordeaux châteaux.
Six of the seven boats are sold as whole-boat charter — the boat, its crew and its chef for your party alone. Napoléon can also be booked by the cabin. The season runs roughly April to October and the fleet is small, so a specific boat in a specific week is a scarce thing; we confirm availability and the current itinerary with Belmond at the time of enquiry.
