Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail
Ten storeys of stone and timber at the front door to Vail Village, with a ski chalet next to Gondola One
The Privata Perspective
Four Seasons came to Vail in December 2010 with a contemporary alpine lodge — Hill Glazier's architecture, Brayton Hughes interiors, ten storeys of stone and timber at the front door to Vail Village. One hundred and ten keys, ninety rooms and twenty suites, plus a chalet next to Gondola One holding lockers, a lounge and ski storage.
Category decides less here than usual. All five guest-room categories print the same 575 square feet, so what separates them is not floor space, and the portal prints nothing beyond the size. The real step up is into a suite: the One-Bedroom at 1,017 square feet, and above it one Pyramid Three-Bedroom at 1,842. Anything larger is a residence, not a hotel key.
We book it for families who want ski logistics handled without renting a house, and for a summer week when the mountain turns into hiking and biking country. Suites go first for the holiday weeks — we ask in the spring.
Accommodations
Resort Room
575 sq. ft. 53 m²
Twenty-eight of them, the largest single block of rooms in the house, at the footprint every guest room here shares
Peak Room
575 sq. ft. 53 m²
Nine of them, at the same 575 square feet as every other guest room here — neither source publishes what separates the five categories
One-Bedroom Suite
1,017 sq. ft. 94 m²
Eight of them, the most numerous suite in the house and the first room type here to break 1,000 square feet
Pyramid Three-Bedroom Suite
1,842 sq. ft. 171 m²
One of one, and the largest key the hotel can sell — everything above it on the portal's table is a private residence
Dining
Tavernetta Vail
Italian
The resort's principal dining room — 88 seats indoors and 36 outside on the operator's own fact sheet
The Remedy
Cocktails and elevated fare
The only lounge in the building, and the room both sources list for a drink rather than a meal
Speyside Café
Coffee
The portal files it under restaurants for elevated coffee drinks; it does not appear on the press fact sheet, so no seating or hours are published
Pool Bar
Salads, sandwiches and snacks
Counted as a restaurant by the operator, serving the year-round heated outdoor pool and its two whirlpools in the sunken courtyard
Spa & Wellness
The spa runs to 1,337 square metres (14,395 square feet) over thirteen treatment rooms, with organic, results-oriented treatments aimed at the hydration and nourishment balance the operator calls critical in alpine air. Private couples' suites, a relaxation garden, and high-altitude therapies as well.
When to Go
Dec–Mar
Ski season — the holiday and Presidents' weeks go first
Jun–Sep
Summer in the Rockies — hiking, biking and rafting from the same door
