Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler
A 273-key alpine resort at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, with a gas fireplace in every guest room and a year-round 23-metre outdoor pool
The Privata Perspective
Whistler splits between the village and the mountain base; Four Seasons took the base of Blackcomb — minutes from the lifts for both mountains, with a ski concierge to close the gap. It opened in June 2004, architecture by Burrowes Huggins, interiors by Brayton & Hughes: stone, dark wood, and a gas-burning fireplace in every one of the 273 keys.
Category matters less here than usual: the spread is narrow. Resort, Superior and Deluxe rooms sit within a few square metres of one another, so the premium buys outlook — mountain, valley or forest — not floor space. The Mountain-View Rooms are the ones to ask for; above them sit ninety-five suites, and the Blackcomb Suite at the top.
We book it for families and for skiers who want the mountain without taking a chalet, and for golf parties in summer. December to March is the ski season, July and August the green months, and ski-week rooms go early — we hold them the day the dates are fixed.
