December through April is the dry, breezy high season, and the window most people want — the best of the golf, the sailing and the beach days, with Christmas and New Year booking further ahead than anything else on the calendar. May and early June hold much the same weather with fewer people. The Atlantic hurricane season runs June to November and is wettest in its second half; it is also the quietest and greenest time on both islands, and we build flexibility into those dates rather than avoid them outright.

Five to seven nights on Nevis is the shape most trips take — long enough for the beach, the golf course and a day or two of walking or riding under Nevis Peak without the holiday turning into a schedule. Add two nights on Saint Kitts if the history is the draw: Basseterre, the old sugar estates and Brimstone Hill Fortress. Families who take a villa tend to stay longer, since the point of the villa is not having to move.

Most travellers fly into Saint Kitts, where the international connections are, and cross to Nevis by boat — the resort counts that transfer as roughly fifteen minutes by car and fifteen by boat. Nevis has its own small airstrip as well, ten minutes from the resort, reached on regional aircraft. We book the crossing as a private transfer rather than leaving you to the public ferry timetable, and we time it to the flight rather than the other way round.

Four Seasons Resort Nevis, West Indies — 350 acres on Pinney's Beach, open since February 1991, with 189 rooms and suites plus villas and residences let separately. Behind the beach sit an eighteen-hole Robert Trent Jones II course at par 71, eight tennis courts, four pickleball courts and three pools, and the spa runs nine treatment rooms. Nothing else on either island operates at that scale or to that service standard.

The greater value here is the logistics: the flights land on Saint Kitts and the resort is on Nevis, so the crossing has to be arranged rather than hoped for.
