December through April for the classic dry, breezy Caribbean peak. May through early July is the insider window — calm turquoise water, fewer guests, softer rates. August through October is hurricane season; rates fall accordingly.

Among the best in the Caribbean. The wall off Providenciales' Northwest Point — directly in front of Amanyara — plunges from shallow reef into deep blue, with sharks, turtles and pristine coral. We arrange private dive boats and certification courses through the resort.

Five to seven nights is the sweet spot. Providenciales is where the international flights land, so every trip starts there, and three nights goes by before you have stopped checking your phone. North Caicos is about half an hour away by passenger ferry and worth a full day — Middle Caicos is joined to it by causeway, so you can drive across to the caves and Mudjin Harbour on the same outing. Grand Turk and Salt Cay need a short domestic flight instead; no ferry runs to them from Provo. There is no public transport anywhere, and no Uber.

Grace Bay earns its reputation. The water is shallow and calm a long way out, and most hotels put you within walking distance of restaurants and shops. It is also where nearly everyone stays, which shows over Christmas and in March. The north-west of the island is a different proposition. Amanyara sits at Northwest Point beside the marine park, roughly half an hour from Grace Bay at the end of a rough road, and you will be eating on property most nights. Pick Grace Bay if you want to walk out to dinner. Pick the west end if not having to is rather the point.

It is true, and it is the first thing we raise with American clients. Firearms and ammunition are prohibited outright, and possession gets prosecuted even when a single loose round has been left in a bag after a range day. Several US visitors were arrested and charged over precisely that. The law was amended in 2024 so the courts have discretion to fine rather than jail in exceptional cases, but you are still looking at an arrest and weeks of court dates before you are allowed to fly home. Declaring it to your airline changes nothing. Turn every bag out before you pack.
