The Privata Perspective

The Taj Mahal Palace opened on 16 December 1903 on Apollo Bunder, facing the harbour, some twenty years before the Gateway of India rose beside it. Jamsetji Tata built it to be second to none east of Suez, and the Palace Wing still holds its red central dome, the floating staircase, galleried interiors and a collection of more than 4,000 works of art. The Tower Wing, added in the early 1970s, has contemporary rooms with balconies; guests in both wings share the restaurants, bars, pool and spa.

Via Privata stayed in February 2024, the final stop of a journey through India after New Delhi, Agra, Amanbagh and Udaipur. The Palace Wing is the reason to come: book a Luxury Grande Room Sea View for the bay window over the water, a Taj Club Room for more space and the lounge, and the Grande Luxury Suite for an occasion.
