Amanbagh
Mughal-inspired oasis at the base of the Aravalli Hills near the ruins of Bhangarh
The Privata Perspective
The most atmospheric Aman in India and arguably the most romantic property in the entire portfolio. Ed Tuttle's design draws directly from Mughal garden palace traditions — domed cupolas in rose-pink sandstone, cloistered courtyards, reflecting pools, and a green-tiled swimming pool that could have been lifted from a Rajput miniature painting. The setting, at the base of the ancient Aravalli Hills near the haunting ruins of Bhangarh, adds an otherworldly dimension.
Amanbagh operates as a gateway to rural Rajasthan at its most authentic. The resort organises excursions to Bhangarh's atmospheric 17th-century ruins, leopard-tracking safaris in the Sariska Tiger Reserve, and village walks through communities where traditional crafts — block printing, pottery, weaving — continue unchanged. At night, private dinners can be arranged on the ruins' terraces or in the surrounding countryside beneath a canopy of stars.
The 37 havelis and pavilions are arranged around courtyards and gardens in the manner of a traditional Indian haveli compound, creating a sense of living within a private palace rather than a hotel. The pool pavilions, each with their own heated plunge pool and walled garden, offer total seclusion.
