The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra
Mughal-inspired hotel 600 metres from the Taj Mahal, with a view of the monument from every room and suite
The Privata Perspective
The Oberoi Amarvilas stands 600 metres from the Taj Mahal and, by the hotel's own account, is the only luxury hotel in Agra with a view of the monument from every room and suite. Designed by the Mumbai architect Prabhat Patki with the Malaysian firm Lim Teo + Wilkes Design Works, it is laid out like a Mughal palace across nine acres of terraced lawns, reflection pools, fountains and pavilions, with 102 keys: 95 rooms and seven suites, each with 24-hour butler service.
Via Privata stayed in February 2024, between Delhi and Rajasthan on a journey through northern India. The view shapes everything here, from the balconies to The Lounge, and the Premier Room with Balcony is the category to book for most couples.
