The Privata Perspective

The Oberoi, New Delhi opened in 1965 as The Oberoi Intercontinental and, by its own account, was the first hotel in India to offer 24-hour room service, butler service and a restaurant open around the clock. It reopened in January 2018 after more than twenty months of renovation directed by Adam D. Tihany, who took the modernism of Lutyens' Delhi as his starting point, with 220 rooms and suites, 34 of them suites, each facing either Humayun's Tomb or the Delhi Golf Course.

Via Privata stayed in February 2024, at the start of a journey through northern India. The outlook, the calm and the location are the reasons to choose it: Humayun's Tomb is 2.6 km away, India Gate 3.4 km and the airport about half an hour by car. Dhilli, mentored by Vineet Bhatia, cooks the food of Delhi itself, and the Premier Plus Rooms, with twin vanities and the Residents' Lounge, are the category to book for most stays.
