The Privata Perspective

Grumeti is not one lodge but seven Singita properties on a 350,000-acre private reserve in the Serengeti's western corridor. The private status is the point: it is a concession rather than a park, so sightings are not shared with other operators' vehicles, and guided walking is part of the offer.

Sasakwa is the Edwardian manor on the hill, ten cottages plus the Hillside Suite. Faru Faru sits low on the Grumeti River, Sabora is nine tents on open plain, and Serengeti House, Milele and Kilima are exclusive-use villas. Explore is a private mobile camp that moves with the wildlife. The trade-off worth knowing: the migration only passes through this corridor for part of the year, so if you are booking chiefly for river crossings, check the dates before committing — we will tell you plainly when your window does not match.

Accommodations

Cottage, Sasakwa Lodge

Six of Sasakwa's ten one-bedroom cottages, each with its own plunge pool, fireplace, living room and French doors to the plains

Suite, Faru Faru Lodge

Seven of Faru Faru's nine, low on the Grumeti River, with two swimming pools in the lodge grounds

Sabora Tent

All nine of Sabora's units share one category — self-contained, each with its own pantry, dining and fitness area and a meditation space

Dining

Dining Room, Sasakwa

Lodge dining

Sasakwa's single indoor dining space, adjoining the bar and lounge

Interactive Kitchen, Sasakwa

Chef's kitchen

Singita's own term — a demonstration kitchen where guests cook alongside the chefs

Main Tent, Sabora

Camp dining

Sabora's one communal living and dining tent, with a fire pit and pool alongside

Spa & Wellness

Wellness is per-property and uneven — Singita's own Grumeti page says not all seven properties have a dedicated wellness space, with in-room or outdoor treatments offered instead. Sasakwa has a combined gym and spa plus a tennis court; Faru Faru and Sabora have their own treatment spaces.

When to Go

Jun–Oct

Dry season; the migration typically reaches the western corridor around June and July, which is when the Grumeti River crossings fall

Nov–May

Green season — resident game, calving further south, fewer vehicles and lower rates
