The Privata Perspective

Four Seasons at Anahita is a villa resort, not a room resort. All ninety villas run to the same 105 square metres of indoor and outdoor space, each with its own plunge pool, private garden and outdoor shower. It opened in October 2008, purpose-built on a golf estate with two eighteen-hole courses at hand — Ernie Els's at Anahita, Bernhard Langer's on Ile Aux Cerfs.

Because every villa is the same size, the money buys position. Garden villas look inward, Beach-View toward the sand, and the sixteen Oceanfront villas hold the front rank. The six Premium villas add an extended pool and terrace rather than more house; one Three-Bedroom Royal Sanctuary sits above all of it at 451 square metres.

We book it for families, for golfers who want the beach with the golf, and for honeymooners who would rather have a garden than a corridor. May to October is the drier half of the year, and Oceanfront is the category we request the day a booking is confirmed.

Accommodations

Garden Pool Villa

105 m² 1,130 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor living space, plus an additional garden

Thirty of them, the entry category and the largest single block in the resort, set back from the water with the same plunge pool and private garden as every other villa

Oceanfront Pool Villa

105 m² 1,130 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor living space, plus an additional garden

Sixteen only, the front rank on the lagoon — the same printed footprint as the Garden villas, so what the premium buys is the position

Premium Oceanfront Pool Villa

105 m² 1,130 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor living space, plus an extended pool and terrace area with garden

Two in the whole resort, and the extra money goes on an extended pool and terrace rather than on more indoor space

Three-Bedroom Royal Sanctuary

451 m² 4,854 sq.ft.

One only, and the largest key here that is not a rental residence

Dining

Chaloupe

Mediterranean and Mauritian

Island specialities alongside Mediterranean cooking — lamb shoulder candied with Mediterranean spices, Madagascar organic tiger prawns in crisp kadaif

Radici

Contemporary Italian trattoria

Pasta, pizza and a beef fillet stuffed with scamorza and sun-dried tomatoes; the carbonara is built on guanciale and an egg-yolk emulsion

Awase

Japanese and Pan-Asian

Filed as a lounge by the portal and as a restaurant by the press office — yellowtail carpaccio, gyoza, and a short-rib clay pot with XO fried rice

Angara

Indian

Fish Nirvana, a south Indian dish cooked in banana leaf with tropical vegetables and coconut milk, is the plate the kitchen leads with

La Plaz Beach Grill

Beachfront grill and seafood

On the sand — fish ceviche with coconut leche de tigre, and grilled smoked octopus with Rodrigues lime

Spa & Wellness

The spa sits above the lagoon in interiors by 1508 London: twelve treatment rooms plus a salon, a manicure and pedicure area and a thermal suite, blending the African roots of Mauritius with Asian traditions. No overall spa size is published.

When to Go

May–Oct

The drier, cooler half of the year — the best window for golf and long days outside

Nov–Apr

Hotter and wetter, with the cyclone months in the middle; the Christmas and New Year weeks are the exception on price
