Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea opened in March 1990 as the brand's first full-service resort, and it still sets the standard on this coast: fifteen oceanfront acres, eight storeys, three pools and 383 keys, by Wimberly, Allison, Tong & Goo with interiors from Brayton Hughes Design Studio.
Aspect decides the stay here, because size does not. Every guest-room category measures 600 square feet with a lanai, so the choice between Mountain-Side, Garden-View and Deluxe Ocean-View is only ever about what you look at. Floor area starts moving at the suites — the Elite Oceanfront runs to 2,400 square feet, and there are three of them.
We book it for multi-generational families and for clients who want a large American resort run to Four Seasons standards, with Spago and Ferraro’s already on site. Winter is the peak and goes furthest ahead; late spring and September are the quieter windows, and the ocean-front suites are the first request we make.
