The Privata Perspective
Kwitonda sits on the edge of Volcanoes National Park at roughly 2,600 metres, and it behaves like a mountain lodge rather than a safari one: cold mornings, sudden rain, and trekking on foot instead of game drives. Eleven suites, all with fireplaces, indoor and outdoor showers and a heated plunge pool, plus Kataza House next door — a four-bedroom villa with its own chef and host.
The Akarabo Nursery is the reason to choose this one over its neighbours: 178 acres being replanted, a quarter of a million saplings and counting, with a teahouse, a chef's garden and local craftspeople working on site. Two things to plan around. There is no spa building and no gym — every treatment happens in your suite or on your deck. And gorilla permits are not in the rate; they are bought separately and they are the binding constraint on dates.

There is no spa building, no gym and no communal pool. Singita states plainly that all treatments are given in guests' suites or on their private decks; every suite has dedicated space for them and its own heated plunge pool.
