Mandarin Oriental, New York
A 35th-floor Sky Lobby in Deutsche Bank Center on Columbus Circle, and 244 rooms and suites that each look over Central Park or the Hudson River
The Privata Perspective
Mandarin Oriental, New York opened on 1 December 2003 in the north building of Deutsche Bank Center, starting 280 feet above the ground at Columbus Circle. A Dale Chihuly chandelier of 683 glass and crystal pieces hangs in the ground-floor lobby, while MO Lounge and The Bar share the 35th-floor Sky Lobby. All 244 rooms and suites look over Central Park or the Hudson River.
The floor matters as much as the view. The operator's own pages give the Central Park View Room and the Premier Central Park View Room the same 39 square metres; the premium buys height, floors 45 to 54 against 40 to 43. Among suites, the Premier Central Park View Suite takes the southeast corner, while the Central Park View Suite on the northeast corner shows the park from the living room and the Hudson from the bedroom. For families, the Connecting Hudson River View Family Room pairs a king room with a twin room.
We book it for clients who want the park and Lincoln Center rather than Midtown's avenues: Central Park is a two-minute walk, Lincoln Center six. Per Se, with three MICHELIN stars in the 2025 New York City guide, and two-star Masa sit in The Shops at Columbus Circle below the hotel. At Thanksgiving the parade passes beneath the hotel, so ask for a park-side room early.
