The Privata Perspective

The Ocean Club opened in 1962 as a hideaway for celebrities and joined the Four Seasons portfolio in 2017, and that order matters — the gardens and the reputation both predate the brand. The landscaping takes its cue from Versailles and holds a restored 12th-century Augustinian cloister.

One hundred and seven accommodations, and the split is what matters: ninety guest rooms, twelve suites, and five villas and residences. The Hartford Wing holds the garden- and ocean-view rooms at 42 to 44 square metres. The Crescent Wing is where the beach stay is — forty Luxury Oceanfront Rooms at 51 square metres, each looking across lawn, beach and ocean, and ten suites at double that.

We book it for couples who want the Caribbean with a real hotel around them, and for golfers — guests have access to the adjacent Tom Weiskopf-designed Ocean Club course, and Nassau's airport is forty minutes away. Ask for the Crescent Wing if the beach is the point and the Hartford Wing if the gardens are.

Accommodations

Garden-View Room

42–44 m² 450–475 sq.ft.

Twenty-three of them, the entry category, in the Hartford Wing looking onto the gardens; one king or two queen beds

Luxury Oceanfront Room

51 m² 550 sq.ft.

Forty of them and the largest single block in the resort — the Crescent Wing category, with lawn, beach and ocean in front of it

Luxury Oceanfront Suite

102 m² 1,100 sq.ft.

Ten in the Crescent Wing, exactly double the Luxury Oceanfront Room's printed footprint, one king bed and the same lawn-to-ocean outlook

Two-Bedroom Plunge Pool Bungalow

80 m² 860 sq.ft.

Two only, set in the gardens behind a walled-in patio, sleeping a king and two queens — the family option that is not a residence

Dining

DUNE by Jean-Georges

French-Asian with a Caribbean twist

Jean-Georges Vongerichten's room and the resort's principal restaurant; the cuisine line is the operator's own wording

Ocean Blu

Caribbean

Poolside. The portal lists it as Ocean Blu while the press office still prints the room under its former name, OCEAN, with the same Caribbean billing

Trattoria Versailles

Mediterranean

Poolside, beside the Versailles-inspired gardens. The two operator sources disagree here — the portal names it Trattoria Versailles, the press sheet still prints 'Versailles Terrace, French-Mediterranean' — so confirm the current concept when you book

DUNE Bar

Bahamian cocktails and light fare

The light-fare menu is credited to Jean-Georges on the fact sheet

Martini Bar and Lounge

Cocktails

The resort's cocktail lounge; the fact sheet's own billing is 'sophisticated cocktails'

Spa & Wellness

The spa is a garden sanctuary of eight Balinese-style treatment villas, each in its own private garden with an outdoor bath, and guests are invited to linger after a treatment. Hair and nail salons sit alongside. No spa floor area is published.

When to Go

Dec–Apr

The dry, cooler high season — reliable sun and calm water, with Christmas, New Year and Easter the weeks that book out furthest ahead

May–Jun

The quiet shoulder before the heat and before the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June to November and peaks late
