The Privata Perspective
Voavah is not a resort you book a room in. It is a private island in Baa Atoll, open since 2016 and sold whole — seven bedrooms, a beach house, a spa over the lagoon and one party in residence at a time, up to twenty-two guests. MICD Associates built it, Avalon Collective did the interiors, and the seaplane from Malé takes forty minutes.
What decides the stay is who fills those seven bedrooms. The three-bedroom Beach Villa is the centre of the island at 1,077 square metres; the two-bedroom Water Villa stands out over the lagoon; the two Mezzanine Suites, 94 square metres each, take the extra couple or the older children. The island is taken as one rather than by the room, so the party you assemble is the variable that matters.
We book Voavah for two or three families travelling together and for milestone birthdays, and we book January to April for the dry, flat weeks. Christmas and New Year go earliest of all.
