North Island
The Seychelles' 'Noah's Ark' — 11 handcrafted villas on a private granite island whose rewilding programme restored giant tortoises and nesting turtles, made famous by a royal honeymoon
The Privata Perspective
The original barefoot-emperor island. North Island opened in 2003 as a conservation project first and a resort second: the 'Noah's Ark' rewilding of a former coconut plantation that brought back native forest, giant Aldabra tortoises and nesting hawksbill turtles. Its 11 villas — vast, handcrafted assemblies of local timber, glass and thatch by the same architects who later designed Miavana — set the template every private island since has chased. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose it for their honeymoon, which tells you everything about its discretion. We arrange the helicopter from Mahé and the villa; the island does the rest.
