The Privata Perspective
Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel designed Bulgari's resort on Jumeira Bay, a man-made island carved into the shape of a seahorse and joined to the Dubai coast by a 300-metre bridge. It opened in December 2017, and the MICHELIN Guide gives it Two Keys. The hotel counts 101 rooms and suites, from Guestrooms at 53 square metres to the Bvlgari Suite at 120, each with a private balcony, plus 20 stand-alone villas with their own pools, from a one-bedroom at 175 square metres to the 540-square-metre Bvlgari Villa.
Il Ristorante – Niko Romito holds two MICHELIN stars for Niko Romito's modern and classical Italian menu, cooked on site by resident head chef Giacomo Amicucci, with raised banquettes facing the Arabian Gulf; The Bvlgari Bar, the brand's oval bar in chrome here, shares the room. Hōseki, on the fourth floor, holds one star: 17 seats at two omakase counters under sixth-generation sushi master Masahiro Sugiyama. By day La Spiaggia serves the beach, and the world's first Bulgari Marina and Yacht Club has its own pool and a restaurant for Italian seafood.
We steer clients to the Bvlgari Suite for its 60-square-metre terrace, or to a Two Bedroom Beach View Villa for a private pool and the beach-facing villas' own beach access. Dubai's winter runs roughly from the last week of October to mid-April; November to March are the easiest months for the beach and the marina, while July and August average highs above 43 °C.
