The Privata Perspective

A hilltop sanctuary above Florence — a Renaissance monastery among cypresses, with terraced gardens dropping away toward the Arno valley and the Duomo beyond. It closed for eighteen months and came back on 28 April 2026 a different hotel: interiors reimagined by the Florentine studio Luigi Fragola Architects, gardens restored by Luca Ghezzi, Impruneta terracotta and Carrara cipollino marble throughout, and the original chapel, cloister and loggias left intact.

What the renovation added is the reason to go now. There is a Guerlain spa on the first floor of the old Franciscan convent, a gastronomic restaurant called Antesi with eight tables under a 16th-century loggia, and three named signature suites — the Limonaia with its own plunge pool, the Botanica, and the Grand Tour, which occupies the floor Napoleon once used as a headquarters. Thirty-nine keys in total, so it stays quiet. We book the view-facing rooms and arrange private access into the city below.
