Savute Elephant Lodge, A Belmond Safari
Twelve tented suites on the Savute Channel — Chobe's legendary elephant country and predator theatre
The Privata Perspective
Savute is the Botswana of wildlife documentaries: huge elephant herds, the famous lion prides that hunt them, and the mysterious channel that dries and flows over decades. Belmond's lodge — twelve air-conditioned tented suites rebuilt in 2018 — sits right on the channel, with a waterhole in front of camp that delivers game viewing from your own deck.
Unlike the water-world of the Okavango, Savute is big-sky, dry-country safari — predator encounters, ancient baobabs, and San rock paintings in the Gubatsa Hills. We pair it with its sister lodge in the Delta for the classic land-and-water Botswana circuit, connected by light aircraft that we arrange end to end.
