Amanpulo
Private 89-hectare island in the Sulu Sea — reached only by chartered flight
The Privata Perspective
The ultimate Aman escape and arguably the most exclusive private-island resort in Asia. Pamalican Island — 89 hectares of pristine coral sand, coconut palms, and turquoise Sulu Sea — is reached only by a chartered Aman flight from Manila. The island is so remote and so pristine that even the Maldives feels comparatively developed by comparison.
The 42 casitas are scattered invisibly across five distinct settings — beachfront, hillside, treetop, cove, and lagoon — ensuring that guests rarely encounter one another unless they choose to. Each casita is a standalone Filipino-inspired cottage of native materials surrounded by tropical planting that creates complete seclusion. The island's marine environment is exceptional: a surrounding coral reef supports extraordinary biodiversity, and Aman's resident marine biologist leads guided snorkelling excursions, reef conservation activities, and freediving instruction.
Pamalican operates almost entirely off-grid, with its own desalination plant, organic vegetable gardens, and sustainability programmes that protect the surrounding reef system. The sense of remoteness is absolute — no other resort, no other structure, no other human habitation exists on the island. After dark, the absence of light pollution reveals a star canopy that alone justifies the journey.
