The Destination
The Philippines holds one of luxury travel's most closely guarded secrets. Across an archipelago of 7,641 islands — home to some of Southeast Asia's most pristine reefs and beaches — one address stands above everything else in the region: Amanpulo, occupying the entirety of private Pamalican Island in the Sulu Sea, reached only by a 70-minute chartered flight from Manila.
What makes Amanpulo singular is the completeness of its seclusion. The island's powder-white sand, its house reef teeming with turtles and reef fish, and the total absence of day-trippers create an isolation that even the Maldives struggles to match. Casitas are scattered so that none sees another; the diving and snorkelling rival anywhere in Asia; and the arrival — your own plane touching down on the island's airstrip — sets the tone before you have taken a step.
The Philippines rewards travellers who plan around its logistics, and that is where we come in: securing Amanpulo's limited charter seats and best casitas months ahead, timing the trip to the calmest seas, and pairing the island with a night or two in Manila either side so the connections never feel tight.
Best Time to Visit
November through May is the dry season for most of the archipelago, with December through May the prime window for Amanpulo — calm, glassy seas, peak visibility for the house reef, and reliable sunshine. The festive weeks book out furthest ahead. June through October brings warmer, wetter weather and lower rates, with diving still excellent between weather windows.
Insider Tips
Amanpulo's private charter from Manila flies only in daylight and seats are the island's true bottleneck — book 3–6 months ahead (longer for Christmas and New Year). We secure priority charter allocation with the casita, and arrange a Manila airport-hotel night on either side when international flight times demand it.
Frequently Asked
What is the best luxury resort in the Philippines?
Amanpulo, without serious debate. The Aman resort occupies all of private Pamalican Island in the Sulu Sea — powder-white beaches, a superb house reef, and casitas positioned so no guest sees another. It is reached only by the resort's own chartered flight from Manila, which is precisely what keeps it pristine.
How do you get to Amanpulo?
By private charter from Manila — around 70 minutes to the island's own airstrip. Flights operate in daylight only and seats are limited, so the charter is booked alongside the casita, 3–6 months ahead in high season. We handle the allocation and any Manila overnight the international connections require.
When is the best time to visit the Philippines?
December through May for the classic dry-season experience — calmest seas, best reef visibility and reliable sunshine. November and early June are good-value shoulders. The typhoon season (roughly July–October) brings lower rates and lusher landscapes, with weather that rewards flexibility.
