The property
Aman Residences, Amanera stand on a clifftop above Playa Grande, near Rio San Juan on the Dominican Republic's north coast. Each villa is designed in collaboration with its owner by architect John Heah, so the plans are worked out house by house rather than drawn from a fixed set of types. Aman's description of the finished houses runs to open-plan layouts, floor-to-ceiling windows and planted roof gardens, with views over the Playa Grande golf course to the ocean horizon.
Amanera itself occupies a clifftop perch above the beach and sits adjacent to the Playa Grande Golf Course & Ocean Club, which is the reason owners here are buying a golf address as much as a beach one. The surrounding estate runs to around 2,000 acres.
