The Privata Perspective
Vana Belle, a Luxury Collection Resort, Koh Samui opened in January 2013 as the first Luxury Collection resort on the island, on a forested hillside above Chaweng Noi, the quieter bay just south of Chaweng. Its 79 keys, 72 suites and seven Tropical Pool Villas by the beach, all have a private pool; the resort has no lifts, with the suites in low buildings stepped down the slope, and it takes its theme from the Himavanta, the mythical forest of Thai legend.
Via Privata stayed four nights in a Premium Ocean Pool Suite in September 2025. The service is excellent, the suite's sea view and infinity-edge plunge pool are superb, and the 180-metre beach is the best Via Privata has found on Koh Samui, with clear water over a sandy floor. More than a decade after opening, some finishes in the suites show their age.

Vana Spa honours four heroines of Thai mythology, Manorah, Matthana, Rodjana and Busaba, in four double treatment rooms, two with their own steam room and bubble bath; its therapists combine Thai and European techniques and facials use Thalgo. The gym is open 24 hours with Life Fitness equipment, classes run from yoga, meditation and Pilates to Thai kickboxing and aqua aerobics, and the beachfront infinity-edge pool has three complimentary cabanas, an unheated whirlpool and a connected children's pool.
