The Privata Perspective
The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon fills the lower floors of King Power MahaNakhon, the 314-metre tower that Buro Ole Scheeren designed on Narathiwas Road in Silom, with its 155 rooms and suites on the eighth to eighteenth floors. The Spanish designer Jaime Hayon did the interiors, in colour, curves and sculpture, and they carry from the lobby into the corridors and the rooms. The entry rooms are 29 to 31 sqm; the Corner King, with floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides, is 56. Ojo, the Mexican restaurant of chef Francisco "Paco" Ruano, is on the 76th floor, Mott 32's Cantonese dining room on the second, and Sky Beach, the building's rooftop bar, on the 78th. The pool and a 24-hour gym share the sixth floor, and BTS Chong Nonsi connects directly to the building.
