The Privata Perspective
SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort opened in January 2018 at the northern end of Chaweng, Koh Samui's best-known beach. It is two wings divided by the beach road: the Oceanfront Wing on the sand, with the Moon Pool and The Tent, and the Garden Wing across the road, with the spa, the gym, a lap pool and the kids' club. The Bangkok studio Onion designed both around the phases of the moon, a nod to Koh Phangan's moon parties: white arches, circles and slatted pergolas by the sea, smaller courtyards and darker tones in the garden.
Via Privata stayed three nights in an Oceanfront Balcony Pool Suite in September 2025. The suite was excellent, with its private pool under a crescent arch looking over the Moon Pool to the sea; breakfast at The Tent and room service were very good, and service was warm and efficient. The beach is pleasant and easy to enjoy, if not among the very best on Koh Samui.

Spa and wellness at SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort
SALA Spa, in the Garden Wing, takes its theme from the moon and its cycles: six air-conditioned treatment rooms named after the planets, each with a bathtub, a shower and twin spa beds, plus steam rooms. The gym is open from 7 am to 9 pm, SALA Active runs yoga sessions, and the beach booth arranges kayaks and paddleboards. The beachfront Moon Pool has a wide deck of double daybeds and a children's pool; the Garden Wing adds a lap pool and the kids' club for ages four to twelve.
