Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo, México
A 3,000-acre private nature reserve on the Costalegre coast of Jalisco, with three infinity pools, an 18-hole golf course and its own beaches
The Privata Perspective
Four Seasons went to the Costalegre for this one — 3,000-plus acres of private reserve on the Jalisco coast, thirty-five minutes from Manzanillo-Costalegre airport and a long way from Mexico's crowded beach names. It opened in November 2022, purpose-built, with Victor Legorreta, Mauricio Rocha and Mario Schjetnan on the architecture and Uribe Krayer with Estudio Esterlina inside: 157 keys, 63 of them suites, across jungle, cliff and sand.
Position decides the stay. The thirty-six Nature Rooms sit back in the planting at 66 square metres; the beachfront categories put you on Majahua; and the cliffside one-bedroom suites, fifty-four across three view grades, each carry a private infinity pool at 148 square metres. That pool is the line worth crossing.
We book it for couples who want Mexico without a resort strip, and for families who will use the golf course, the three infinity pools and the beaches. Winter is the dry window here. Cliffside panoramic suites are eleven keys only, so we ask at the time of booking.

Alchemy and a connection to nature are the stated guiding forces, and the sea and the surrounding jungle run through the rooms.
