The Privata Perspective

The George V is the address every other Paris hotel is measured against. The building is a 1928 Art Deco landmark, but it has only been a Four Seasons since December 1999, after a two-year conversion — worth knowing, because the bones are historic and everything laid over them is modern.

Three restaurants hold six Michelin stars between them, which no other hotel in Paris can say: Le Cinq has three, L'Orangerie two and Le George one. The room decides the rest of the stay. A Premier Room high in the house buys a terrace or balcony; the Premier Suite frames the Eiffel Tower from its bedroom balcony.

We book it for clients who want Paris at its most formal and want the dining to be the point. Spring and early autumn are the sweet spots. Le Cinq and the twenty-seat L'Orangerie have to be reserved well ahead, and we do that when the room is booked rather than on arrival.
