The Privata Perspective
The riverside Four Seasons opened in December 2020, purpose-built rather than converted, and it is the Bangkok hotel we have stayed at and reviewed in full. Jean-Michel Gathy arranged it around a courtyard of water gardens, so almost every room looks either at the Chao Phraya or into that courtyard.
Two hundred and ninety-nine keys, excluding the 366 private residences that share the site. The Deluxe Room and the Premier River-View Room have exactly the same fifty-square-metre footprint — the only difference is which way they face, and on this river that difference is worth paying for.
Yu Ting Yuan is the Cantonese room, with Brasserie Palmier and Riva del Fiume covering French and Italian on the water, and BKK Social Club is the bar people cross the city for. November to February is the cool season and the one to book; the hot months are cheaper and quieter, and the river breeze makes them more bearable here than almost anywhere else in the city.
