Three architects — Marwan Al-Sayed, Wendell Burnette, and Rick Joy — carved Amangiri directly into a 600-acre mesa on the Colorado Plateau, surrounded by the slot canyons, towering mesas, and red-rock formations of southern Utah. The building's raw concrete walls echo the striated canyon walls, and the famous swimming pool wraps sinuously around a natural sandstone formation that erupts through the deck — one of the most photographed hotel features in the world.
Amangiri's adventure programme is unmatched in the Aman portfolio. Via ferrata climbing routes scale the surrounding cliffs. Private helicopter excursions reach Lake Powell, Monument Valley, and the Grand Canyon. Canyoneering through narrow slot canyons — rappelling down waterfalls, swimming through pools of turquoise water — is an experience available nowhere else at this level of luxury. Hot-air balloon flights at dawn over the mesa complete the offering.
