Calistoga sits at the northern top of Napa Valley, past the traffic of Yountville and St Helena, and this is where Four Seasons built. The resort opened in November 2021 across a 22.5-acre estate that carries its own 4.7-acre block of cabernet sauvignon and a working winery — it makes wine rather than driving you to someone else's.
Every guest room in the house measures the same 480 to 530 square feet, so the category buys aspect and nothing else. Vineyard & Palisades Mountain Rooms face the vines and the ridge behind them; Resort Rooms look inward at the resort's own grounds. Eighteen rooms carry the mountain aspect. That is the request to make.
We book it for couples who want a tasting week without a long drive between appointments, and for families who take the three-bedroom Estate Villa. Harvest, September into October, is the valley at its best and its most booked; spring is quieter and the vines are green.
