Anantara Layan Phuket Resort
A low-density estate on Layan Bay with Zuma, Dara's rooftop observatory, the Layan Life medical wellness centre and 27 hillside pool residences
The Privata Perspective
Anantara Layan Phuket Resort opened in 2014 on Layan Beach, on Phuket's quiet north-west coast beside Sirinath National Park and twenty minutes from the airport. It is one of the most underrated luxury resorts on the island: 30 rooms and suites and 42 pool villas, with the 27 Layan Residences on the hillside above, spread across beachfront, lagoon and jungle, so the estate feels private and exclusive rather than busy.
Via Privata stayed in September 2026 in one of the newly renovated Deluxe Pool Villas, contemporary and luxurious, with a private pool in a walled courtyard. The dining is the headline: Zuma, now open year-round, Age for the grill, and Dara for modern Thai food followed by stargazing on its rooftop Observatory Deck. Layan Life adds a full medical wellness and longevity centre, from cryotherapy and hyperbaric oxygen to Thai Traditional Medicine, and the Layan Active Zone has padel, Muay Thai, a climbing wall and a zipline. Service was exceptional throughout. The one thing to know: Layan Bay is tidal, so swimming follows the tide.
The Layan Residences, with two to seven bedrooms, a 21- to 24-metre infinity pool, a live-in butler and a resident Thai chef, are among the most complete private estates to rent on Phuket, with full use of the resort.
