Amanruya

Stone cottages on the Aegean coast near ancient Bodrum with private beach and forest setting

5-StarEst. 201236 RoomsEd Tuttle$$$$$

The Privata Perspective

The quietest corner of the Turkish Riviera and the antithesis of Bodrum's glitzy beach-club scene. Ed Tuttle's 36 stone cottages are scattered through a pine and olive forest above a private beach cove on the Aegean coast, each with its own pool and walled garden that create total seclusion even when the resort is full.

The architecture references traditional Bodrum stone-house construction — thick walls of local grey stone, flat roofs, and courtyard plans — but executed with Tuttle's characteristic precision and Aman's generous proportions. The result feels like a private stone village that has existed for centuries, only recently discovered.

Amanruya's Aegean setting provides access to some of Turkey's finest coastal experiences: private boat excursions along the turquoise coast, visits to the ancient Greek theatre at Bodrum (Halicarnassus), and seafood dinners at fishing villages accessible only by water. The resort's organic kitchen garden supplies both the restaurant and the spa with fresh herbs, olive oil, and botanicals.

The spa features an authentic Turkish hammam — a domed marble chamber for traditional foam-and-scrub bathing — alongside treatment rooms using olive oil, lavender, and botanicals harvested from the resort's own gardens.
