Aman opened in Bangkok on 2 April 2025, in the heritage Nai Lert Park estate off Ploenchit — a rare expanse of mature gardens and century-old banyan trees in the middle of the commercial district, with the Nai Lert spirit shrine that still draws devotees daily.
Be clear about the form, because the photographs mislead: this is not a garden compound. Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston designed the hotel inside a 36-storey tower, with the 52 suites on floors 11 to 18, above the park rather than in it. You get the banyans and the city together — the estate below, the Ploenchit skyline across — which is a different proposition from Amanpuri in Phuket and a different one again from the riverside hotels down on the Chao Phraya.
That height is the whole argument for it. Bangkok's other great hotels put you at ground level on the river; this one puts a heritage garden underneath you and the BTS a few minutes' walk away. If you want the river and the boats, stay on the river. If you want Aman's quiet with the city actually usable on foot, this is the one.
