Thailand's moment at the very top of the hotel world is no longer a matter of opinion. Capella Bangkok was voted the #1 hotel on the planet at the World's 50 Best Hotels in 2024; a year later the Four Seasons on the Chao Phraya took the #2 spot worldwide, with Capella at #3 and the Mandarin Oriental at #7. No other country placed more hotels in the global top ten.

Below the Bangkok riverfront — where four of the world's finest hotels now sit within a few minutes of one another — Thailand also holds the resort that arguably invented modern Asian luxury, Amanpuri, and a run of island and mountain retreats to rival anywhere. Several of the hotels here we have stayed in ourselves; where we have, you'll find a link to our first-hand review. Every one is bookable with preferred-partner benefits at the same rate you would pay direct.

Amanpuri - Phuket
08

Amanpuri

$$$$$ · Phuket

The original. Opened in 1988 as the first-ever Aman, Amanpuri set the template for Asian resort luxury — Thai-pavilion architecture on a coconut-palm headland above a private Andaman beach, with around forty pavilions and thirty-plus villas. Decades on, it remains the benchmark, with a superb wellness centre and a fleet of cruising yachts.

The first Aman, and the resort that defined modern Asian luxury — still the benchmark in Phuket.

Book it for: Purists and beach-lovers who want the origin story of Aman on a private Phuket headland.

Six Senses Yao Noi - Koh Yao Noi, Phang Nga Bay
09

Six Senses Yao Noi

$$$$ · Koh Yao Noi, Phang Nga Bay

On a quiet island in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, Six Senses Yao Noi looks straight out onto the limestone karsts that made the bay famous — a view few hotels on earth can match. Hilltop pool villas, an open-air Living Room restaurant and Six Senses' sustainability-led wellness make it the most scenic resort in the south.

Pool villas facing Phang Nga Bay's iconic karsts — arguably the best resort view in Thailand.

Book it for: Couples who want dramatic scenery and barefoot-luxe wellness away from the crowds.

Timing

When to Book

Thailand's cool, dry season (November–February) is peak, and the best river-view rooms in Bangkok and the top villas in Phuket, Yao Noi and Chiang Mai book 4–6 months ahead — sooner for Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year. The new openings (Aman Nai Lert, the Ritz-Carlton) have limited inventory and fill fast. Green season (roughly June–October) brings lower rates and lush landscapes. We hold the strongest available room and confirm live rates the moment you enquire.

FAQ

Questions, Answered

What is the best hotel in Thailand right now?

By the awards, Capella Bangkok — voted the #1 hotel in the world at the World's 50 Best Hotels 2024 and #3 in 2025 — with Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River ranked #2 in the world in 2025 and Mandarin Oriental Bangkok at #7. All three sit within minutes of each other on Bangkok's riverfront, which is currently the strongest concentration of world-class hotels anywhere.

When is the best time to visit Thailand?

The cool, dry season from November to February is peak — the best weather in Bangkok and on the Andaman coast, and when the top river-view rooms and villas book out 4–6 months ahead. The green season (roughly June–October) brings short daily rains, lush landscapes and meaningfully lower rates.

Should I stay in Bangkok or go straight to the islands?

Do both. Two or three nights on the Bangkok riverfront — home to several of the world's best hotels — then fly south to Phuket (Amanpuri) or Phang Nga Bay (Six Senses Yao Noi), or north to Chiang Mai for rice-terrace serenity. We build the connections so the whole journey feels seamless.
