Amanemu
Japan's only hot-spring Aman — onsen suites on Ago Bay overlooking the sacred Ise Shima coastline
The Privata Perspective
The only Aman built around natural thermal springs, and a property that offers an experience available nowhere else in the portfolio. Every one of the 24 suites has a private onsen — a deep cypress-wood soaking tub on its own terrace — fed by the resort's mineral-rich thermal source, allowing guests to bathe outdoors while gazing across Ago Bay or into the surrounding forest.
Ise-Shima National Park, where Amanemu is located, is one of Japan's most sacred landscapes. The Ise Grand Shrine — the holiest site in Shinto, rebuilt every 20 years in an unbroken tradition spanning two millennia — is a short drive away. Ama pearl divers, women who free-dive for pearls and abalone using techniques unchanged for 3,000 years, still work the waters of Ago Bay visible from the resort.
Kerry Hill's architecture is a masterclass in Japanese spatial sensitivity: low-slung timber pavilions that sit lightly on the forested hillside, connected by covered walkways that frame views of the bay. The two-storey Aman Spa is built around the thermal source itself, with communal indoor and outdoor onsen pools at different temperatures, a Watsu pool for aquatic bodywork, and treatment rooms where the mineral water is incorporated into every therapy.

Spa & Wellness
The two-storey Aman Spa is built around the resort's natural thermal source, with communal indoor and outdoor onsen pools at varying temperatures, a Watsu pool for aquatic bodywork, and treatment rooms incorporating mineral-rich thermal water into every therapy. Traditional Japanese wellness — shiatsu, seitai bodywork, and herbal compresses — is complemented by Aman's global spa techniques. The mineral composition of the water is particularly beneficial for skin, circulation, and joint health.
