Amanusa

Clifftop above Nusa Dua's southern coast with sweeping Indian Ocean views

The Privata Perspective

Aman's original Bali property, opened in 1992, occupies a commanding hilltop position above Nusa Dua's southern peninsula. Ed Tuttle's 35 suites step down a manicured hillside of frangipani and bougainvillea toward a private beach club on the Indian Ocean. The sweeping panorama from the hilltop lotus pond — stretching across the ocean to the shadowy outline of distant islands — is one of the most beautiful views in southern Bali.

Amanusa's position adjacent to the Bali National Golf Club provides championship golf on a course designed by Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright, with ocean views from nearly every hole. The resort's private beach club, reached by a shuttle through the grounds, offers a tranquil alternative to Nusa Dua's busier hotel beaches.

While southern Bali has developed significantly since Amanusa opened, the resort's elevated, secluded position and mature tropical gardens create a sense of being above and apart from the surrounding development. The Uluwatu Temple, with its dramatic cliff-edge Kecak fire dance performances at sunset, is a short drive away.
